Welcome to Trinity Lutheran Church, a Church
for All Seasons!
We have a living Lord among us!
Our congregation has been blessed in its efforts to share
the good news of Jesus Christ. We invite you to come and
grow with us!
Several Bible Studies are offered for adults during the Sunday
School hour and during the week. We have an active youth
ministry with junior and senior youth groups. Classes
are available to introduce Lutheranism.
Reaching out to the community is important to Trinity.
We offer a complete scouting program, and during the summer
months, Vacation Bible School. Our Novemberfest is a Savannah
tradition!
Trinity Celebrates Christ throughout the church year in
song and service. The Maranatha Singers, the Festival Choir,
the TLC Singers and the Handbell Choir are all opportunities
to sing
God's praises!
Our Lutheran World Relief project communicate Christ's
love throughout the world. The Trinity Ladies'
groups provide fellowship, interesting speakers, and
many areas of service. And for anyone over the age of 50,
there is fun and fellowship with the many activities planned
by the "Young
at Heart - Over 50 Group".
Brought to you by the Celebrating Christ Committee,
which was organized to expand Christ's mission.
The History of Trinity Lutheran Church
In 1941, Martin
Luther Lutheran Church was built on the corner of Waters
Avenue
and 50th
Street
in
Savannah,
Georgia.
The parish house was built on an adjoining lot. Both
buildings were of hand cut red brick, rock face. The congregation
was organized in 1946. Martin Luther Lutheran Church
had
a 60% military membership.
In 1970, four acres of property were purchased on Mercy
Boulevard on Savannah's southside. The new church building
was dedicated May 9, 1971. The church was incorporated
in 1972 and renamed Trinity Lutheran Church. A new sanctuary
was added in 1978. The original marble baptismal font from
Martin Luther Lutheran Church is still in use today.
Our membership grew such that another new Sanctuary and
Social Hall were needed. Their dedication took place on
January 25, 2004. The existing building now serves as the
Education Building and Youth Center.

Holy Communion at Trinity
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper at the 11 AM
worship service every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month
and at the 8:30 AM worship service every 2nd and
4th Sunday of the month.
We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a sacrament,
a rite instituted by Jesus during which ordinary,
visible elements connected to the word of God become
extraordinary means of forgiveness, grace, and spiritual
renewal (Mt. 26:26-28).
During the Eucharist, or “giving of thanks”,
we believe that the body and the blood of Jesus Christ
are truly present “in, with, and under” the
ordinary elements of bread and wine which are, then,
not mere symbols of his presence.
We further believe that our participation in this
sacrament is an act of confession (1Cor. 11:26) and
of Christian unity (1Cor. 10:17). We prepare to participate
worthily in this meal by seriously examining ourselves
and confessing our sins (1Cor. 11:28).
If you understand this meaning of the sacrament,
examine yourself, confess your sins, truly desire
forgiveness, and trust in God’s grace alone
to live a life exhibiting the fruit of repentance
(Gal. 5:22), then feel welcome to commune with us.
Please speak to the Pastor before communing with
us for the first time.
We receive both elements of bread and wine. For
the wine we offer a non-alcoholic alternative. Most
people come forward to the altar rail to receive
Communion; however, we will bring the elements to
your pew if you have difficulty coming forward.
If you wish to come forward for a blessing, we ask
that as you kneel at the altar rail that you keep
your hands folded and head bowed to signal your intent. |
