In 1941, Martin Luther Lutheran Church was built on the corner of Waters Avenue and 50th Street in Savannah, Georgia. The parish house was built on an adjoining lot. Both buildings were of hand cut red brick, rock face. The congregation was organized in 1946. Martin Luther Lutheran Church had a 60% military membership.
In 1970, four acres of property were purchased on Mercy Boulevard on Savannah's southside. The new church building was dedicated May 9, 1971. The church was incorporated in 1972 and renamed Trinity Lutheran Church. A new sanctuary was added in 1978. The original marble baptismal font from Martin Luther Lutheran Church is still in use today.
Our membership grew such that another new Sanctuary and Social Hall were needed. Their dedication took place on January 25, 2004. The existing building now serves as the Education Building and Youth Center.
